**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**

## TakeALook 2.0 lets iPhone owners hand over their phone to show photos — and nothing else

*The privacy-first photo handoff app adds slideshows, ask-for-it search, and support for
iPhone Duo*

**October 22, 2026** — Torn Metal LLC today released TakeALook 2.0, a free
update to its iPhone and iPad app for the everyday moment of passing your phone to someone to
show them a photo. You choose the photos first, and the person holding your phone can see only
those, however far they swipe.

"Everybody has handed their phone to a relative to show one picture and watched them swipe
straight into last month," said Bob Lindman, who built TakeALook at Torn Metal. "I wanted to pick
the photos, hand the phone over, and stop worrying. Version 2.0 makes that faster, and it makes
showing a whole trip easier."

**How it works**

Pick an album, a date and time range, or a few photos. Review the selection and take out
anything you'd rather not show. Tap Hand It Over and pass the phone across. Your guest can
swipe, zoom, play videos and Live Photos, read captions, and see where each photo was taken on
a map. They can't reach anything outside the selection, change it, or edit, delete, or share a
photo. Ending the handoff takes a deliberate press and hold or a passcode. For the strongest
protection, TakeALook walks you through Apple's Guided Access, and it never claims the phone is
locked when Guided Access isn't on.

**New in 2.0**

- **Slideshow.** Tap play and the handoff runs itself, sliding or fading from one photo to the
next, from 3 seconds to 5 minutes each.
- **Ask for the photos.** Type or say what you want, such as "the waterfall last summer". TakeALook
finds the set using Apple's on-device model, and you review it before anyone sees it. On iOS 27,
search also covers the captions and keywords you've added in Photos.
- **Save to Album.** Keep a selection as a Photos album, in the order you showed it.
- **iPhone Duo.** Open it like a book with a photo on each side, set it on the table with the
photo standing and the map lying flat, or stand it as a tent facing your guest.
- **Shortcuts and Siri on iOS 27.** A new Shortcuts action opens photos picked elsewhere in
TakeALook, and Siri can help set up a Guided Access automation.

**Private by design**

TakeALook has no account, ads, analytics, tracking, or third-party code. Photos and the search
index stay on the device. The App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected."

**Pricing and availability**

TakeALook 2.0 is available now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or
later. The download is free and includes your Recently Added photos, any photos you pick, and the
complete viewer with every protection. A single in-app purchase (US $4.99) unlocks all albums,
date ranges, and search, with Family Sharing included and no subscription.
